DEFNA community

Our Mission

DEFNA is a California-based nonprofit established in 2015 at the request of the Django Software Foundation. Our primary mandate is to organise DjangoCon US — the annual conference for the North American Django community — and to support Django education and outreach events across the continent.

We believe that a healthy open-source community depends on accessible, welcoming events. Through DjangoCon US, community grants, and sponsored events, DEFNA works to lower the barriers to participation for developers of all backgrounds.

DEFNA is governed by a volunteer board of nine members who bring diverse expertise spanning engineering, design, community organising, and open-source advocacy.

Full stack developer who loves code but loves developers even more. Almost everything I know about Django and OS I’ve learned from selfless people willing to share so I try to follow their lead and give back as much as I can.
